🌾 Our Story

Built on 10 years of persistence.

Ali Wasim Farm didn't start with funding, connections, or an easy path. It started with a vision, a willingness to begin from zero, and the discipline to keep going when everything said stop.

The Founder's Journey

From a waiter's job
to 4 tons a day.

Ali Wasim Abbas holds an MBA from GIFT University, Gujranwala. His father is a doctor. Before moving to Lahore, he ran a school in Gujranwala for two years β€” already driven by the desire to build something of his own.

When he arrived in Lahore, nothing came easily. He worked as a waiter for two days, tried sales, tried a call centre. Eventually he landed a role as a Financial Advisor at MathaMax Markets, promoted to Business Development Officer within six months. He stayed two years, quietly saving capital and studying how businesses really work.

When he resigned, he was discouraged at every turn. He applied to Plan9 β€” PITB's tech incubator at Arfa Tower, Lahore β€” in Cycle 7. He didn't make it. Applied to LCE β€” rejected again. A kind acquaintance offered him an admin role from 3 PM to 10 PM, barely covering expenses. Every morning, he went door to door in the Lahore heatwave distributing pamphlets, asking strangers for water to stay hydrated. He started with milk delivery, moved into vegetables and fruits. Woke up at 4 AM. Went to the wholesale market. Delivered orders.

"Hard work, focus and consistency are the weapons of an entrepreneur. You have to be relentless in your pursuit of success."

β€” Ali Wasim Abbas, Founder

In Plan9's 8th cycle, he was selected. His employer continued paying his salary for 4 more months out of goodwill. At Plan9, he built Cart99's signature fruit box β€” healthy, hygienic, affordable β€” which gained popularity immediately.

Silicon Valley, Mid 2018

The trip that changed
everything.

In mid-2018, Ali Wasim travelled to Silicon Valley β€” the global epicentre of innovation and scale. What he saw wasn't just technology. It was how the world's most successful companies think about supply chains, distribution, and getting quality products to end users consistently and at scale.

He visited the campuses and offices of some of the most influential companies on the planet β€” and returned to Pakistan with a sharper, clearer understanding of what large-scale operations truly look like. It was in Silicon Valley that he fully grasped the scope of what the food supply industry could become β€” and what Ali Wasim Farm needed to be built for.

Key Takeaways from the Visit
Scale requires systems. The world's biggest companies don't grow on hustle alone β€” they build reliable, repeatable processes. This directly shaped how Ali Wasim Farm's processing operations are structured.
Quality is non-negotiable at scale. Seeing how global companies manage supply and quality at volume reinforced the importance of consistent standards β€” from field to final delivery.
The food supply opportunity is enormous. Fresh produce supply in Pakistan is fragmented and unreliable. The visit made clear how big the opportunity is for a structured, compliant, professional supplier.
Y Combinator's model of validation. Build, test, measure, decide. The same discipline Ali applied to Farmin β€” and continues to apply to every decision at Ali Wasim Farm.
The Farmin Chapter β€” Jan 2018

A venture built on
a 5-month decision.

In January 2018, Ali Wasim launched Farmin β€” a hydroponic gardening venture built on a compelling idea: grow fresh produce without soil, without chemicals, using dramatically less water, and in spaces where traditional farming isn't possible.

He gave himself a strict 5-month window β€” January to May 2018 β€” to validate the concept. If it worked, he would scale it. If it didn't, he would shut it down and channel everything back into what he knew was working. By May 2018 he had his answer. He acted on it. Farmin closed. The knowledge didn't.

The Decision Framework
Setting a hard deadline before you start is one of the most honest things an entrepreneur can do. It removes emotion from the equation. Ali gave Farmin exactly 5 months β€” no extensions, no excuses β€” and honoured the result. That same discipline drives every decision at Ali Wasim Farm today.
⚑
50% Faster Plant Growth
By providing constant, readily available nutrition, hydroponics allows plants to grow up to 50% faster than in soil β€” with year-round harvesting regardless of season.
🌿
No Herbicides or Pesticides
Hydroponic gardening virtually eliminates the need for chemicals β€” better for the environment and cleaner for the end product.
πŸ’§
Closed-Loop Water Reuse
Water stays in the system and is reused β€” dramatically reducing demand for fresh water supply and cutting environmental impact.
πŸ™οΈ
No Arable Land Required
Ideal when land is scarce. Hydroponics works indoors, on balconies, or in urban spaces β€” making local food production genuinely scalable.

Mission & Vision

What we stand for

Our Mission
Deliver fresh produce that buyers can count on β€” every order, every time.

We exist to eliminate uncertainty from the fresh produce supply chain. Every food manufacturer, processor, and food chain we serve should never have to worry about quality, consistency, or delivery. That is the one promise we make β€” and keep.

Our Vision
To become Pakistan's most trusted name in fresh produce processing and supply.

We are building toward a future where Ali Wasim Farm is the first name buyers think of when they need bulk fresh produce β€” not just in Lahore, but across Pakistan and eventually across borders. Sustainable sourcing, traceable supply, and scale that grows with our partners.
